On 11th April 2011 it was the Ferrari Owners Club day at Silverstone Circuit Northampton. I flew up there the long way round in a BMW 330d we had just taken in as part exchange against our BMW M3 Convertible - this thing had been chipped so went well!
We arrived about midday or so while most cars where in the pits for the lunch break which gave us a good chance to have a look at the cars. Clearly some were there for a serious track day while others were happy to enjoy their road cars on the track and not necessarily to go all out.
It was an overcast and windy day so to begin with we parked the car on the straight after Copse Corner to watch the cars go past, some were flying others taking it in their stride. We then moved round to The Loop where we had a good view of some great bends. The 458 Challenge was noticeable while from the distance the older 348 and 355 Ferrari's seemed to look like they were going backwards in comparison, I'm sure they didn't feel that way!
After a good few hours of watching the Ferrari's we headed over to the Porsche Showroom and BMW Motorad circuit where they were riding the new BMW RR motorcycle round in groups. All in it was a great relaxing day out. We look forward to going again next year seeing even more Ferrari 599 GTO's letting their hair down.
